On Wednesday, Yemen’s Information Minister Muammar Al-Iryani pounded Iran for backing the Houthis after Tehran conceded it supports the militia.
The Yemeni authority approached the global community to compel the Iranian regime to end all types of help it gives to the Houthi militia and also utilize it as an instrument to target Saudi Arabia as global shipping routes need to be secured.
“The Iranian regime controls the political and military decision as well as the deals with the Houthi militia to complete its assigned tasks and supplies of drones, weapons, ballistic missiles, and specialists in military enterprises, mines,” Al-Iryani said.
Al-Iryani’s remarks come not long after Iran’s Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri conceded early this week that the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) offer help to the Houthi armies in Yemen.
“We give intellectual support and advice to Yemen’s national armed forces,” adding that “Iran will back Yemeni people until the end.” semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.
However, Bagheri denied allegations that Iran helped Houthis by providing arms and missiles, by saying that “Today, Yemen is under a total blockade, and all of its routes are barred, then how can one provide big missiles to Yemen when it is not possible to send medicine there?” The Al Arabiya news reported.
