Why Palestinians Have Tried Trump In Public Court?

Around 2000 civilians were seen gathering at the West Bank city of Ramallah by midday and are enraged by the way Trump has shown open support to Benjamin Netanyahu’s claim of annexing the West Bank, once he wins the re-elections. America has stated that as per international laws, Washington does not consider the West Bank as illegal settlement and would believe it to be legitimized.

Palestinians are angry and their rage is on the streets, as posters of Donald Trump could be seen burning here and there. Favoring the powerful isn’t the flavor of the month anymore as civilians are up and arms against politically corrupt leaders running the show in and out of Palestine and West Bank.

Public opinion has already decided Trump and Netanyahu’s future as protestors stood holding banners stating, “Trump to impeachment, (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu to jail, the occupation will go and we will remain on our land.”

The public verdict is clear. Mahmoud Aloul, an official with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement spoke to the media and said, “The biased American policy toward Israel, and the American support of the Israeli settlements and the Israeli occupation, leaves us with only one option: To go back to resistance.”

Popularly being termed as ‘day of rage’ the demonstrators are protesting Trump administration’s announcement on Israeli settlements last week. Israel captured the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 1967 in the Mideast war and quickly began settling the newly conquered territory to mark its victory. Today, some 700,000 Israeli settlers live in the two areas, which are both claimed by the Palestinians for their state.

The Obama administration had always kept itself away from taking sides and is also known to have steered clear of any support to civil wars around key areas like Syria and Libya, unlike Trump who has used this as opportunities to increase arm and military sale to leadership in these countries and continues to favor them over good governance.
