A top US administration official has stated the decision of the White House clearly over Iran- there is no intent to budge from giving any relief on sanctions unless Tehran learns to prioritize the lives of its people over funding terrorism and playing sly. This was communicated to the media by US National Security Advisor, John Bolton recently, while tweeting a fresh satellite feed of the Adrian- Darya1 and directly pointing out that “Anyone who said the Adrian Darya-1 wasn’t headed to #Syria is in denial.”
Grace -1 was later rechristened Adrian- Darya1 and has been reportedly moving through the Mediterranean Sea to Syria to offload 2.1 million barrels of Iranian crude worth some $130 million. The Iranian government has declared this a legitimate sale of goods to an unnamed buyer. It is suspected that the buyer is no one else but Syria. It this comes true then Tehran would be violating the EU International Trade Laws.
The United States earlier this month, has already issued a warrant against the supertanker and all its crew including the Indian origin captain, who refused to bow down to the millions of dollars of the bribe that was being offered to him by the Trump administration, to let them nab the tanker. Further, it is confirmed that the supertanker has switched off its AIS beacon just before 1600 GMT Monday, as reported by the ship-tracking website MarineTraffic.com. Its last known destination is Syria. Anyone buying Iranian crude oil would have to face the wrath of the US government who had already warned Greece of possible sanctions if they accepted Iran’s offer to buy crude. The US had also sanctioned the supertanker on the pretext that it is owned by the Iranian Revolution Group, considered to be a key terrorist organization.
