John Bolton, the national security adviser to US President Donald Trump, has stated that Iran acts like a central bank for international terrorism. Bolton also presented a bigger strategy to counter Iran in the Middle East.
He also stated that the strategy of the United States towards Iran would make use of not only military but also nonmilitary means for fighting militants, backed by Iran, along with their financial backers.
The announcement was made by Bolton during the launch of a new US counterterrorism strategy. This is the first time since 2011 that such a strategy was launched.
Bolton stated that a Islamism terror groups are the main transnational threat, in terms of terrorism, to the United States as well as the foreign interests of the US.
He stated that Iran has been the central banker of the world to global terrorism from 1979.
Ever since he took office, Donald Trump has adopted an aggressive stance towards Iran. He even pulled the US out of the 2015 nuclear deal.
Starting in November, the current administration is planning to place new sanctions on the oil sector of Iran. The aim is to stop Iran from being involved in the Syrian conflict and Iraq. Another aim is to force Iran to ensure new negotiations on its ballistic and nuclear missile program.
