US Troops Retract Support In Syria, Leaving North Open To Turkish Invasion

Preempting America’s turn around, it is being confirmed that the Kurds are trying to ‘cut a deal’ with the Syrian Army and Russia, in an attempt to save themselves, from the mounting threat of a Turkish insurgence.

Trump has recently ordered the retracement of US forces from Northern Syria, leaving the Kurdish forces to fend for them.

It is further being confirmed that Trump has done so in order to avoid a ‘bloody conflict and face off with Turkey’ which has been ignoring repeated American requests to halt the incursion.

But Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has seen voicing his decision of moving ahead to ensure the place is rid of Kurdish forces.

Turkey has long objected to a US-Kurd alliance as it considered elements of that force to be terrorists tied to an insurgency inside Turkey.

For the last five years, the United States forces had been supporting a Kurd-led Syrian group known as the Syrian Democratic Forces to combat Islamic State.

Also, this is the only bolder in the way of Turkey, to formalize its wish for a ‘safe zone’ which Erdogan has claimed to be the place to re-home the more than 3million Syrian refugees that Turkey has been supporting.

In the words of Brett McGurk, the former US envoy to the global coalition against the Islamic State who resigned over Trump’s attempts to withdraw from Syria, “Turkey wants the US off the entire border region to a depth of 30km [20 miles].

Based on all the facts available, these were warning fires on a known location, not inadvertent rounds.”

Turkey has been eyeing the region for its rich oil and gas reserves and has been using the safe zone as its buffer reason with the US.

The US Defence Secretary Mark Esper has confirmed that the troops will be retracted as soon as possible but the whole “process could take a week.” He also admitted that the US was aware of the dilemma in which the hundred of ISIS prisoners and Syrian Kurds are facing due to the Turkish onslaught.

As the Turkish invasion started, the US had already passed orders to retract as many as 30 special operation troops it was running on various observations post across North of Syria. Now the land is open to complete the Turkish invasion.
