United States: Trump plans to designate the Muslim Brotherhood a “terrorist” organization

After Russia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates designated the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization,

US President Donald Trump plans to place the Muslim Brotherhood on the US blacklist of “terrorist organizations,” the White House said Tuesday.

“The president has spoken with his national security team and regional

leaders who share his concern and this designation is being reviewed following the internal process,” said American executive spokeswoman Sarah Sanders.

This announcement comes three weeks after the visit to the White House of Sissi.

The Muslim Brotherhood is a Sunni Islamist movement with international firms across multiple Arab nations, originally founded in Egypt.

Even if It renounced violence in the 1970s after a failure to create a society governed by Islamic law., some branches and former members have continued to be active in terrorism.

The placement of the Muslim Brotherhood on this “blacklist” would allow the United States to impose sanctions on any person or organization with links to them

It would become a criminal act for Americans to fund the group, ban banks from processing money for it, bar those with ties to the group from coming to the United States and make it easier to deport immigrants who have worked with the organization.

Some Americans and groups also have ties to the Brotherhood, potentially putting all of them in a dire legal situation if the organization gets designated as a terror group.
