The UAE along with Saudi Arabia are of a similar view to counter Houthi militants and both nations believe that a common stance is required along with reinstating the internationally recognized government as per a statement by Arab coalition nations.
Last week Talks between the government of Yemen and the southern Transitional council had been held in Jeddah with the Saudi government’s intercession and the mediation of Riyadh is with hope to end recent clashes in Yemen’s southern provinces.
The coalition’s statement read, “ We welcome the reaction by the government of Yemen and STC’s appeal for peace talks. We understand the importance of temporarily stopping all military actions or violations against public and private property.”
The UAE and Saudi Arabia further reassured they are, “ constant support for the government of Yemen in its attempts to maintain peace and integrity of Yemen and countering Houthi rebels and other terrorist groups operating in Yemen along with contracting Iran’s imperialism.”
Both nations informed that they are functioning in cooperation and coordination with several other allies to make ceasefire a reality for paving a path for fruitful talks that bring an end to the war and bury chances of its reoccurrence.
At the end of the joint statement was a declaration that both countries will provide continuous support on a humanitarian basis to the government of Yemen separate from Houthi insurgents.
The Southern Transitional Council, on the other hand, reacted by a releasing its statement that acknowledged the joint statement by UAE and Saudi. A spokesperson for STC, Nazar Haitham said, “ peace and talks are exactly what STC has appealed for from the beginning.”
