Prominent Iranian Human Rights Lawyer sentenced to 38 years in Prison

A very prominent Human Rights lawyer from Iran, Nasrin Sotoudeh, has been sentenced to 38 years in Prison along with 148 lashes. The activist is well known for representing on behalf of her human rights defenders, including dissidents and women who have been actively protesting against the compulsory wearing of the headscarf that are worn by Muslim woman in Iran. According to the information that had been secured the activist was convicted of gathering and also cooperating in committing crimes that were against the national security of the country. Additionally, she was also accused of insulting the Supreme leader of the country.+
