People Stabbed In Probable Terror Attack in Australia

One person was fatally stabbed and two others were injured by a man wielding a knife in Melbourne, Australia, recently. It seems that the attack took place after the attacker allegedly set his truck on fire in
the city center.
The police had to shoot the male suspect who was later taken to a hospital. However, the suspect died while in the hospital. The 2 other people who had been stabbed have been given medical treatment. However, the other victim had died at the hands of the attacker on the site.
It was later stated by the Australian police that the knife attack was being treated as a terror event. They also mentioned that the suspect originally hailed from Somalia. Moreover, the suspect was actually known to the intelligence authorities.
Graham Ashton, the Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police, said that the police were undertaking security reassessments of the events with regards to what has happened. He also stated that the police were not aware of any current threat regarding the people who are associated with the individual.
The responsibility of attack was claimed by the ISIS extremist group, claiming that it was carried out by one of its members. However, no evidence was provided by ISIS to support this claim.
The attacker had driven a pickup truck to the city center. Filled with a number of gas cylinders, the truck was set ablaze. Police responded to the reports of a burning car when they came across the suspect.
The suspect was then attacking the bystanders in the crowded Bourke Street of Melbourne. The man also attempted to stab the police officers before he was shot. Thankfully, none of the gas cylinders managed to explode in the meantime. Firefighters managed to subdue the blaze to prevent more destruction.
