The emir of Qatar has tried to persuade the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad to get involved. The emir wants Malaysia to help Qatar in improving the ties with the nations in the Middle East that have boycotted his country. However, the emir has failed to do so.

This is the second time in as many years the emir has failed in this effort. After all, the response of Mahathir Mohamad has been similar to what Najib had said. Najib is the former Prime Minister of Malaysia. In fact, Najib had even embarrassed the emir of Qatar by stating the the relationship of Malaysia with Saudi Arabia was a lot stronger.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia has clarified the importance of resolving the crisis between Qatar and the Quartet through the use of diplomacy and dialogue. The Prime Minister also put emphasis on the difficulty of getting involved as the mediator in this crisis.

The Quartet is made up of 4 nations in the Middle East which have taken a stand against terrorism. Qatar has been accused of providing support to terrorism.
