In a candid and clear message, while talking to David Muir after Trump refused to have France as a mediator for talks between Iran and the US, the President of Iran Hassan Rouhani voiced the obvious.
He was talking on the sidelines of the 75th UN General Meeting and pointed out that despite the United States has invested heavily in navigation and interception systems, it could not decipher or preempt the projectile of the drone and missiles which targeted the Saudi Arabian oil reserves.
Rouhani indirectly also indicated that he has no intentions of having a telephone conversation with Trump, because “issues of regional conflict and sanctions that are affection everyone across the board, cannot be discussed one a phone call. I expect the other nations to come on the level ground and come to a solution.”
Mentioning that it was important to “dry out the root, remedy it that causes the tension,” Iran will not deter from retaliating against the economic terrorism that the United States is indulging in.
Iran has confirmed in the past that Yemen “does not have the programming and implementation know how to plan an attack on the kind which was done in Saudi Arabia. But nowhere did we say that Iran has carried out these attacks.”
The skirmish is a result of a tiff between Trump and Rouhani over the former retracting from the nuclear deal which received the support of European nations like France, Britain, and Germany. All three wished that the United States and Iran could come on common ground and end the tension over the nuclear deal that had been signed at the time of Barrack Obama’s leadership.
The skirmish has now blown into a trade war and forcing Iran to retaliate in a way that might affect the whole world in strange ways. When asked if Rouhani would meet with Trump and not have a mediator like France call it a truce, he responded that “Iran would like everyone to be involved in ending the regional conflict.
We are not budging if the US isn’t either. Under the current conditions, I don’t see anything constructive to talk on the phone or in person. We want the US to go back to what was agreed upon under the 2015 Nuclear Deal.”
