France Blames Iran over Bomb Plot Grabs Assets

On Tuesday (2nd October) France stated that there is no doubt with the fact that Iran’s intelligence ministry was behind the scheming to carry out attacks on an exiled opposition group’s rally outside Paris. Hence, France grabbed the assets belonging to Tehran’s intelligence services and two Iranian nationals.
The thickening of relations between Paris and Tehran could have a far-reaching result for Iran as President Hassan Rouhani’s government are looking forward to European capitals to retrieve a 2015 nuclear deal after the US backed out and restored tough sanctions on Iran.
A French diplomat stated that a long and detailed analysis carried out by the French intelligence services helped them to arrive at a conclusion, that the Iranian intelligence ministry is responsible for the attack.
The French government declared to seize the assets. The diplomat stated that Saeid Hashemi Moghadam instructed the attack and the attack was put into action by the Assadollah Asadi, a Vienna based diplomat. Asadi is now under arrest by the German authorities. However, the Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Bahram Qasemi stated that they refute the accusation against Iran and want the immediate release of the Iranian diplomat.
The plot of attack was aimed at a meeting of the Paris based National Council of Resistance of Iran outside the French capital. The rally was attended by the US president Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani and former European and Arab ministers.
US State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert took a note of the French measures and stated that no other country has felt terrorism more closely than the Syrians and even any Europeans haven’t felt like that.
France had alerted Tehran to expect a strong response to the foiled bombing. As a result, the diplomatic relations were becoming strained. French President Emmanuel Macron and Foreign Minister Jean Yves spoke with Iranian counterparts on the issue at the UN General Assembly after seeking an explanation over the role of Iran.
