Erdogan and Merkel discussed Syria and Libya over the phone

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held telephone talks on Saturday. This was reported by reporters in the administration of the Turkish leader.

“During the negotiations, the parties discussed bilateral relations, as well as regional issues, primarily Syria and Libya,” the Erdogan administration said.

Currently, there are two executive authorities in Libya in parallel: the internationally recognized Government of National Accord Faiz Saraj and the interim cabinet of Abdullah Abdurrahman at-Thani, acting in the east of the country together with the parliament and supported by the Libyan National Army Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar. On December 12, Haftar announced the start of a decisive attack on Tripoli with the aim of eliminating the entrenched terrorist groups.
