The Arab coalition in Yemen confirmed a gigantic blast at a Houthi weapons site which is a densely populated civilian area in Hodeidah city. The explosion is believed to have begun inside a building.
The explosion claimed 4 civilian lives whereas several others were injured in the blast at a depot of Al Zafaran neighborhood situated in the east of the city.
Spokesperson of the government favoring joint forces, Col Wathah Al Dubaish informed that heavy explosions went on for over 2 hours forcing the residents of the area to shift to city’s southern outskirts.
Houthis had claimed that coalition airstrikes or shelling were responsible for the explosions but Col Al Dubaish rubbished the claims saying, “Coalition jets didn’t carry out airstrikes on any target in Hodeidahand neither did the joint forces shell any residential area.”
He also mentioned that this explosion wasn’t the first, numerous other blasts have been implemented at Iran backed rebels weapons depot located in Sanaa and various other parts.
Col Al Dubaish added, “The Houthis have constantly been carrying out such heinous attacks frequently amidst unjustified silence from the UN and human rights organizations.”
The explosion was taken forward with a series of heavy explosions resulting in widespread fire and thick and heavy layers of smoke.
